One property, two unique accommodations
Escape to our little piece of Tasmanian paradise. 28 gates property is nestled in the breathtaking Derwent Valley and Central Highlands, just an hour’s drive from Hobart. Spanning over 2,500 hectares, this seventh-generation working sheep farm dates back to 1862. From the moment you travel down our winding, private road in the rolling hills, the rush of city life fades away, and you enter a world entirely your own.
28 gates
The simple façade of 28 gates hides a secret luxury experience within. Still simple, the interior luxury lies with pure quality and understated beauty - a reflection of the landscape outside. Polished floors made from Tasmanian timbers, comfortable leather sofas, the finest bed linen, cosy wood-fire and a free-standing bath looking out to a country sky which would astound weary shearers and delight discerning travellers.
Circus key
Overlooking the picturesque Circus Lake, our architecturally designed Circus key is crafted from timber and stone sourced directly from the property. Set among rolling countryside and sweeping rural views, it offers the rare pleasure of fishing just steps from your door.
Things to do
Private fly fishing
Fly fish until your heart’s content across our properties’ three private lakes. The Lakesor Lagoons are a Fly Fishers’ paradise with wild brown, rainbow trout, and tiger trout in superb condition, feeding on a wide variety of insect life. Enjoy dry, nymph or wet fly fishing, depending on the time of the year and who knows, you may catch a double-figured fish!
Farm life tour
Experience a farm stay tour with the owners, and you can expect an interactive history of the property, an overview of the workings of 'Bloomfield', an inspection of the shearing shed, and learning all about the wool, plus general friendly farming banter. You will have the opportunity to feed our beautiful farm animals, including our horse (Poppy), sheep (Tilly, Nibbles, Betty and Alfie), chooks, Burt, our pig, and, of course, our wonderful dogs Peggy, Quest, Billy and Arthur.
